From Signal Hill, you get a good view of the whole harbor and most of urban St. John's. All the way left is the channel out to the ocean. It's maybe a hunderd yards wide and rock cliffs up each side. In theory, it's easily defended, but the English and French each lost it to the other at least once. On the horizon, just left of center, there's the glint of a pair of water tanks which I played tag with a couple weeks later. Water is a bit greener than I remember, but then I remember it being quite green but very clear close up. The building on the near promontory is some interpretive center for the park. The hotel I stayed in is the red brick building way to the right.
