Cabot tower was built in the late 1800s. It's where Marconi received the first trans-Atlantic radio signal from Ireland in 1901. Apparently only this is only half of the building originally planned. The other half, a shorter, more rectangular section along side, was never built but no reason was ever published (there were, however, stories published about the lack of a reason). The masts above are for flags which let the town below know what ships where coming in; now they just sing in the wind (which is always there).
