This is inside the larger of the recreated Viking sod houses. There's not a lot of light, but enough to see the framing and bricks of sod of the inside wall. The man on the other side of the door is one of the interprators (impersonators) working on a weaving (an apparently big activity in 11th century Vinland ). Unlike some at the more elaborate and liberal iterpretation of a Viking settlement across the road, he didn't really bother to stay in character, but he did have more information. This sod house was built about 1970 and had apparently little maintenance since then, but it still looked in fine shape. It's believed to be a restoration of the main house that Lief built on his first voyage and then leased to his sister and brother-in-law when they sailed over to colonize.
