This is the airport terminal at Gander on 10 September. I was listening mostly to the CBC on the radio, and 3 - 4 times a day, there was some story dealing w' the 11 September connection to Gander and the people who were diverted there from all over the world and how the town took care of them. There was also the story on the day following 11 September ab't the calculated decision to keep planes away from major population centers with the implication that places like Gander were expendable. Gander's connection with aviation is strong; it was a way point on the trip to Europe for both airlines in the pre-jet age as well as staging place for the Canadian and American Air Forces during the Second World War. There's still a large Canadian Forces airbase and an airport museum, and it's still refered to as Gander International Airport although I don't know if anything outside of Atlantic Canada offers service there.
