Confederation Building, St. John's, Newfoundland

This is the Confederation Building where parliament meets. Newfoundland was a colony of Great Britian until 1949, and it's still not a settled issue whether Confederation with Canada was a good idea. In actuality, Newfoundland gets more from the central government that its taxes cover, but while I was there, there was talk of a new parliamentary committee taking comment on Newfoundland's place in Canada. Still, Newfoundland is far less likely to break off from Canada than Quebec.
